Barney Frank

Barnett "Barney" Frank (born March 31, 1940) is an American politician who served as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Massachusetts from 1981 to 2013. A member of the Democratic Party, he served as chairman of the House Financial Services Committee (2007–2011) and was a leading co-sponsor of the 2010 Dodd–Frank Act, a sweeping reform of the U.S. financial industry. Frank, a resident of Newton, Massachusetts, is considered the most prominent gay politician in the United States.[1]

Barney Frank served his entire political career without coming out of the closet as an atheist. His silence signifies the discrimination that is still so rampant in our culture against atheists. He was out of the closet as a far left leaning gay liberal but his atheism was secret as he referred to himself as a "jew."

How do we know Barney Frank is an atheist? He recently told Bill Maher on his aftershow in so many words that he was a pot smoking atheist.

Bill Maher: "You were in a fairly safe district. You were not one of those Congresspeople who have to worry about every little thing. You could come on this show, and sit next to a pot-smoking atheist, and it wouldn’t bother you."

Barney Frank: (Points to himself and Maher) Which pot-smoking atheist are you talking about here?

Bill Maher: Oh you are liberated!

Barney Frank: "I had asked my governor to appoint me to the open Senate seat and he decided not to, and I was looking forward to having my husband Jim hold the Constitution, not the Bible, and affirm, not swear, that I was gonna be a wonderful Senator."
