John Ralston Saul

Saul has been designated as Canadian Humanist of the Year [1995] by the Humanist Association of Canada, mainly for the humanistic arguments he uses in two of his books: Voltaire's Bastards and The Doubter's Companion. The latter is subtitled "A Dictionary of Aggressive Common Sense" and carries on the Biercian tradition of the Devil's Dictionary.

A Canadian reader reports on the [message board] "I noticed John Ralston Saul's name on your list of famous atheists or nearly atheists. You might like to know he's now married to Canada's Governor-General, the appointed titular Head-of-State, and representative of Canada's Queen (coincidentally the same Queen the brits claim as their own.
