Jacinda Ardern

Jacinda Kate Laurell Ardern, (born 26 July 1980) is a New Zealand politician who has been serving as the 40th Prime Minister of New Zealand since 26 October 2017. Ardern has described herself as a social democrat, a progressive, a republican, a feminist, and an agnostic.[1]

Jacinda grew up as a mormon however today she says, "I can't see myself being a member of an organised religion again."

"... I have a real respect for people who have religion as a foundation in their lives. And I respect people who don't. I'm agnostic. I don't spend a lot of time trying to figure it out. I just think people should be free to have their personal beliefs and not be persecuted for it, whether they be atheist or staunch church members.... I do draw a line if people are being taken advantage of - for instance, the tithes in some churches. I feel very strongly about that." [2]

Her family has been supportive of her leaving the mormon faith and she says "Families who cut off people for leaving - that's just awful."
