Robert Sapolsky, the Stanford Professor of Neuroendocrinology, has done groundbreaking work in the effects of stress on the hippocampus. He has written a number of popular books including Why Zebras Don't Get Ulcers: A Guide to Stress, Stress-related Disease and Coping, and The Trouble with Testosterone. He has also been awarded a MacArthur Genius Grant.
